Day of urban development on 09 May 2026
On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the city of Radebeul is inviting the citizens of Radebeul to Meißner Straße 191 for the first time on the nationwide Day of Urban Development. Not many people are likely to know the Meda building in Radebeul-Mitte from up close. Yet the laboratory building, which was completed in 1985 and is now empty, is by no means unknown. Rail travellers are familiar with the white cube between the Weintraube and Kötzschenbroda S-Bahn stops from passing by.
The city of Radebeul acquired the property in 2024 to turn it into a "House of Culture and History", which will house the city archives, among other things. The extensive property is part of a series of properties that the city wants to connect along the railway and develop into a sporting and cultural centre. The aim is to develop a coherent space between Bernhard-Voß-Straße and Lößnitzgymnasium that pedestrians and cyclists can cross easily and safely, alongside existing and new sporting and cultural facilities.
The city invites all citizens to get to know the Meda building and the site on Saturday, 9 May 2026 from 14:00 to 18:00.
