Day of urban development in Radebeul-Mitte

The urban development day at the future House of Culture and History was a complete success. Several hundred citizens of all ages came to the former Meda site during the afternoon of 9 May 2026 to see the laboratory building, which has been empty for years, from the inside, to take part in the planning workshop in a former storage room and to enjoy the cultural performances outside the building. The large meadow, which will one day be part of the sports and cultural centre of Radebeul, was also "taken possession of".

The future graduating class of the Lößnitzgymnasium provided coffee, cake and cool drinks. Sports and games were offered by JuCo Social Work with the Radebeul Stadtkind organisation. The Radebeuler Stadtkind also organised the musical programme. The band Kwiat from the popular Kellerkumpanen played alternately with DJ DROPNETIC, a 14-year-old pupil from Lößnitzgymnasium. The puppet show "The Golden Thaler" by Bianka Heuser was not only enjoyed by the youngest visitors.

Numerous former employees from the Dresden AWD pharmaceutical plant and its successor companies also took the opportunity to visit their former place of work. Ralf Queißer, the former technical manager of the galenic centre, guided groups of visitors through the most interesting areas of the laboratory building and explained the development of dosage forms for various active ingredients (galenics) using the existing fixtures and equipment. Photographs had to replace the large pieces of equipment that had already been removed.

On the ground floor, citizens discussed the framework planning for the "Radebeul sports and cultural centre" with employees of the urban development office. Extensive use was made of the opportunity to leave comments and wishes on the plans on display using sticky notes. All contributions will be analysed and incorporated into further planning.

The development of the sporting and cultural centre of Radebeul will accompany the town and its citizens for a number of years to come. In addition to the annual urban development day, there will be planning discussions and participation in the increasingly concrete plans for the sub-areas of the new centre, about which the public will be informed in good time.
