Route through the Niederlößnitz

On the way through Niederlößnitz, you can enjoy a marvellous view over the Elbe valley and the Radebeul vineyards. On the ascent directly next to the Hoflößnitz vineyard show vineyard below Friedensburg Castle, information boards provide interesting facts about viticulture in Saxony.

The tour

On the way through Niederlößnitz in Radebeul, you can enjoy an unforgettable view over the Elbe valley and the Radebeul vineyards.

The hike begins below the historic Friedensburg castle on Bodelschwingstraße. Here it is worth taking a detour up to the new viewing platform. From there, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Elbe valley all the way to Saxon Switzerland. An audio station on the Saxon Wine Trail provides information about the history of Friedensburg Castle. A small show vineyard of the Niederlößnitz winegrowing community demonstrates the differences between the grape varieties.

After the detour, the trail takes you back along the Obere Bergstraße to "Untere Finstere Gasse" or, if you have a little more time, past the Terrassenberg to "Auf den Bergen". Idyllic wine houses and cosy wine taverns along the way invite you to take a break. Along the Obere Bergstraße you will come across numerous picturesque buildings, including the impressive Minckwitzsche Weinberghaus, a real architectural gem.

You have the option of extending the route to suit your mood by taking the Höhenweg westwards. It takes you to the Radebeul West Historical Forest Park. Enjoy a section of the so-called Owl Trail, which features sculptures by artist Ullrich Eißner. An audio station at the water tower provides information about its history. You return to the starting point on Bodelschwingstraße via Obere Bergstraße.

Experience the beauty of Saxony's wine-growing landscape on this route and enjoy a unique blend of nature, history and culinary delights!

Route around Wackerbarth Castle

The tour

Wine hiking in Radebeul promises pure enjoyment and nature experiences! Amidst rolling hills and sun-kissed vineyards, a picturesque hiking trail awaits you, inviting you to savour fine Saxon wines and breathtaking views. Follow the winegrowers' trails, enjoy tastings in traditional wineries and be enchanted by the idyllic landscape - an experience for connoisseurs and nature lovers alike!

Experience the fascinating world of wine in all its facets on the route around Schloss Wackerbarth. The adventure winery invites you to enjoy the wines in the cosy inn or at cultural events in the park. Information boards along the route also provide fascinating insights into the work and effort behind the wine production of our Radebeul winegrowers.

From the picturesque Belvedere and its romantic terraces, you can immerse yourself in the courtly Baroque style once cultivated by Count von Wackerbarth. The ascent to Jacobstein takes you through the vineyards and opens up sweeping views over the Elbe valley. From the award-winning "Most Beautiful Wine View 2012", you can enjoy a fantastic view of Wackerbarth Castle, the Baroque gardens and the impressive Belvedere.

The nearby observatory in Radebeul also picks up on the theme of wine and emphasises the important role of the sun in viticulture. Thanks to the region's typical steep slopes, the sunlight falls at the ideal angle and provides the best ripening conditions for the grapes, even in northern areas. The grapes ripen perfectly, especially on clear autumn days.

A detour to the quarry at Himmelsbusch allows you to experience nature in all its diversity: Here you will find rare and sometimes endangered plant species, which are particularly beautiful during the flowering season.
