Focus on dementia: An evening of theatre with Tom Quaas at the ‘Neufriedstein’ care home for the elderly in Radebeul

At the ‘Neufriedstein’ care home for the elderly, run by Diakonie Dresden in Radebeul , a special theatre evening will take place on Thursday 24 September 7.00 pm, as part of Dementia Awareness Week: Tom Quaas will present his solo play ‘You Are My Mother’, based on the text by Joop Admiraal.

In ‘You Are My Mother’, the actor takes on two roles simultaneously: he plays both the son of a mother suffering from dementia and the mother herself. With great empathy, the play explores closeness and distance, growing older and living with dementia. It brings to light experiences that many families are familiar with, yet which are rarely discussed openly.

The play lasts about an hour. Afterwards, all guests are invited to an open discussion. The Radebeul City Advice Centre for People in Special Circumstances, Older People and People with Disabilities, together with the Radebeul Family Centre, will be present and, alongside the team from the ‘Neufriedstein’ care home for the elderly, will answer questions on the topics of care, support and dementia.

Anyone interested is warmly invited. Admission is free. No booking is required.
