Stolperstein laying ceremony on 22 September 2026 at Villa Kolbe

On Tuesday, 22 September 2026, at 3.00 pm, four Stolpersteine will be laid at Villa Kolbe (Zinzendorfstraße 16) in memory of the Kohlmann family, who were persecuted as ‘Jewish’ during the Nazi era. The Stolpersteine serve to commemorate their names and lives. We would like to extend a warm invitation to all those interested to attend.

The laying of the Stolpersteine, organised by the Radebeul History Working Group, is kindly supported by the association Stolpersteine für Dresden e. V., the district’s music school, the town of Radebeul, René Kuhnt and the Radisson Blu Park Hotel. During the laying ceremony, at which we are delighted to welcome descendants of the family as guests in Radebeul, the biographies of those who were persecuted will be presented. There will be an opportunity to lay a single flower as part of the silent commemoration.

Background on the Kohlmann family:
Although she was baptised as a Protestant Lutheran, Brunhilde (Bronislava) Kohlmann, who came from a Jewish family, was classified as a ‘full Jew’ according to the pseudo-scientific Nazi racial terminology. Her children, Ursula and Alexander, were persecuted as ‘Jewish half-breeds’. All three were subjected to various anti-Semitic measures and were forced to perform hard labour. The fact that Dr Johannes Kohlmann, who had no Jewish family background, stood by his family protected them from some of the hardships and saved his wife from deportation. They all survived the end of the war.

The commemoration will conclude with coffee in the villa’s garden.

At 6.30 pm, following the commemoration, the Radisson Blu Park Hotel has kindly invited guests to a moderated discussion between the descendants of the Kohlmann family and school pupils from Radebeul.
