To the fulldome system:

The fulldome system allows the presentation of immersive content on a spherical dome surface by means of a video projection. The first fulldome system in the Radebeul Planetarium, which was installed in 2009, was an in-house design that the employees had constructed themselves. The resolution was around 2K.

The new system works with a total of five projectors, which are combined to create an overall image. The fade areas are made invisible by specially manufactured screens. The system achieves a total resolution of 4K (4K refers to an image resolution of around 4000 horizontal pixels, which is four times higher than Full HD). The new system offers a sharp image of outstanding quality across the entire surface (approx. 200 m²).
The system was fully financed by the city of Radebeul with almost €100,000.
