Radebeul - "Family-friendly holiday resort" in the Dresden Elbland region
26.11.2025
Family-friendliness is a top priority in Radebeul - this is now also confirmed by the official certification as a "family-friendly holiday destination". Radebeul was the 15th municipality in Saxony to receive this seal of quality on 12 November 2025.
Lord Mayor Bert Wendsche: "We welcome all guests to Radebeul. However, I am very proud that we can now demonstrate our efforts to expand our offers for families in particular to the outside world with this certification as a seal of quality."
In Radebeul, families will find a perfectly harmonised offer of culture, nature and play - all with the special charm of a Saxon wine town.
The cheerful mascot Trudi Träubchen, a lovingly drawn vineyard snail, guides young and old guests through the town. As a child-friendly mascot, she can be found on information material and signposts and makes the stay even more colourful for the youngest visitors.
Certified family-friendly partners include the Karl May Museum, where adventure-seekers can immerse themselves in the world of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, and the cosy Lößnitzgrundbahn, which offers pure railway romance with its steam train service. But that's by no means all: the Landesbühnen Sachsen theatre company will delight you with family-friendly plays, while climbers of all ages can test their skills at the Boulderdrome.
For explorers, there are the "Radebeul Stories " - exciting tales about the town - and numerous lovingly designed playgrounds that invite you to let off steam. If you want to explore the Elbe Valley from the water, hop aboard the White Fleet and enjoy the view on a leisurely boat trip. Things get particularly active with the digital Elbland Challenge or the Radebeul scavenger hunt, which is available from the tourist information centre. These fun activities turn exploring the city into a shared adventure.
Anyone wishing to be an ambassador for the "Family Holidays in Saxony" brand must undergo a strict assessment of at least 40 quality criteria to be met. The requirements are high. Applicants are put through their paces by an independent jury. The requirements include the facilities of hotels, guesthouses, holiday flats, holiday resorts and leisure facilities being geared towards the needs of families with children, the service and friendliness of the staff, the quality of indoor and outdoor leisure activities. A certified partner here in Radebeul is the Dittrichs Erben holiday farm in Altkötzschenbroda. Families can look forward to an all-round service there, whether in the hotel room or in the holiday flat. As a special experience, you can spend the night in the hayloft.
