A Change of Perspective – Action Day invites you to get involved

What is it like to get about in a wheelchair? What challenges might people with visual impairments face in their day-to-day lives? And what support is available in Radebeul?

Visitors can explore these and other questions at the Awareness Day for People with Disabilities on Wednesday 9 September 2026. From 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm, around the Radebeul Kultur-Bahnhof at Sidonienstraße 1c, there will be an opportunity to find out more, try out new things and strike up conversations with one another.

Around 20 regional organisations, institutions and supporters will be on site to present their work and services. The information on offer will be complemented by various hands-on and interactive stations where visitors can get involved themselves. Among other things, visitors can try out wheelchair sports and wheelchair table tennis, learn about mobility training, or tackle an obstacle course using a white cane. As well as the information and hands-on activities, affordable refreshments will be available.

The focus is on informal interaction. Visitors can try things out for themselves, ask questions and strike up conversations with the various organisations involved, as well as with one another. The afternoon thus offers the chance to gain new experiences and view everyday situations from a different perspective. “Sometimes, even a small shift in perspective is enough to view everyday situations from a different angle,” explains Diana Fleischer, Head of Social Services.

Entertainment is also on the programme. At around 4.00 pm, the inclusive children’s and youth circus ‘Sanro’, run by the Radebeul branch of the German Child Protection Association, will be showing off their skills. “Above all, we want it to be a colourful and open event. We’d like to create an opportunity to strike up conversations, discover new things and spend a varied afternoon together,” emphasises Silke Haferkorn from the Social Services Department.

The event is open to everyone. People with and without disabilities, families, children, young people and older people are all equally welcome.
