"oh, you love me... you love me not"
Exhibition from 12 April to 17 May 2026
18 students from the Judith Hopf class at the Dresden University of Fine Arts are exhibiting together under the title "oh you love me, ... you love me not" at the Radebeuler Stadtgalerie, Altkötzschenbroda 21.
The vernissage will take place on Friday, 10 April 2026 at 7 p.m., at which Professor Judith Hopf and students from her class will also have their say.
The exhibition is open until 17 May 2026 in the Stadtgalerie during opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on public holidays).
The students have commented on their exhibition:
The works on display unfold a polyphonic structure that deals with beginnings and temporality in a wide variety of approaches. On the one hand, current phenomena from the Internet and pop culture come to the fore - visual worlds that, in addition to familiarised gazes and an understanding of beauty shaped by pop culture, shape our viewing habits. On the other hand, the works refer to early, sometimes fragmentary memories - to moments that elude linear narration and remain as feelings rather than clear images, especially when they are organised as subjective memory archives. Spaces open up between the personal and the collective: what role does remembering, archiving, translating, making accessible to oneself play? And what interest do other entities have in these memorabilia? These questions give rise to works that, alongside individual longings, reveal a keen sense of transience, vulnerability and delicacy and weigh up the associated problems. They negotiate the ephemeral not as a lack, but as a state - as something that is being formed in the process of disappearing. Standing still is a recurring motif throughout the exhibition: as a description of uninfluenceable cycles and repetitions, between holding on and letting go. In this field of tension, a practice unfolds that does not so much provide answers as open up spaces - for perception, for memory and for the quiet in-between. The well-known love oracle, which gives the exhibition its name, reflects these thematic considerations in many ways.
The Heimatstube Kötzschenbroda is located in the former extract house of a historic three-sided farmhouse. On two floors with an exhibition area totalling 32 m², visitors can learn about the development and everyday life of Kötzschenbroda.
Although the town of Radebeul has only existed in its present form since 1935, the history of the original community of Kötzschenbroda dates back to the early 12th century. Wars, epidemics, floods and fires have repeatedly destroyed and resurrected the village. It was eventually saved from demolition and decay.
The Auszugshaus was the first renovated building in Altkötzschenbroda to be inaugurated in 1993. Since 2006, this small half-timbered building has been home to the "Heimatstube Kötzschenbroda", which has been run on a voluntary basis by the Kötzschenbroda "Heimatabend mit Frühstück" working group since 2020. This group develops and designs a special exhibition every year and organises guided tours through the Heimatstube and around the Anger.
Excavation finds, personal memorabilia, pictures and text documents are presentedin the permanent exhibition . Many of the exhibits come from local residents of Kötzschenbroda.
The current special exhibition can be visited from 7 September 2025 to 31 August 2026. It bears the ambiguous title "Shop closing in Kötzschenbroda?" and looks back 140 years, but also addresses the current difficult situation of trade today.
Guided tours are offered through the permanent and special exhibition, which can also be combined with a tour of the village green in Altkötzschenbroda.
The Heimatstube Kötzschenbroda is structurally affiliated to the Stadtgalerie Radebeul. It does not have regular opening hours. However, it is possible to visit by appointment at any time. The Heimatstube is also open for special events on the village green.
