Historic village green Lindenau

Lindenau is a lane village in the Radebeul highlands, which was probably founded between 1200 and 1230 by the Burgraves of Dohna as an arable village.
It was first mentioned in a document in 1287 as "Lindenowe". The name stands for "linden-rich meadow".
Due to its remote location, Lindenau was spared most of the plague epidemics and destruction during the Thirty Years' War in the 17th century.
Because the village had few fields of its own, many Lindenau residents worked as winegrowers in the neighbouring vineyards.
In 1920, Lindenau was incorporated into the municipality of Kötzschenbroda.
