Lößnitzgrundbahn steam railroad

Discover the Saxony Steam Railway Route and stop off in Radebeul! The fourth narrow-gauge railway in Saxony, the Lößnitzgrundbahn started operation in September 1884. On the 16.6 km journey from Radebeul via Moritzburg to Radeburg, the "Lößnitzdackel", as the railway is also affectionately known, passes eleven stations and crosses 19 bridges.

Already at the beginning of the journey through Radebeul, passengers are offered a fascinating view of the vineyards before the train continues to meander through the picturesque Lößnitzgrund and the Moritzburg forest and pond landscape. The crossing of the Dippelsdorf pond over a 210 m long dam is particularly impressive. From Moritzburg station, the train continues its journey across meadows and fields to its final destination, Radeburg.

In addition to the daily steam train service, special themed tours are also offered. During the experience tour "Wine enjoyment on a narrow track", which takes place several times a year, passengers can enjoy Saxon wines and listen to interesting anecdotes about winegrowing. Afterwards, a culinary vintner's buffet awaits them at the inn.

Other themed tours also take place on Easter Sunday, Ascension Day, St Nicholas' Day or at the start of the cycling season.

Tip:
Combine a ride on the Lößnitzgrundbahn with a bike tour through the beautiful Elbland. You can easily stow your bike in the bicycle carriage and relax and enjoy the landscape from the open observation car.
