From the fiery, spirited songs of the Sinti and Roma to the wistful, plaintive melodies from the Croatian mountains – the Balcantare Quartet conjures up an atmosphere that offers a glimpse of the rugged beauty of the Carpathians, the wildness of the Aegean and that very special zest for life that defines the Balkans.

Accompanied by guitar, accordion, bandoneon, double bass, viola, violin and drum, powerful three-part vocals resound, at times in harmonies and rhythms that seem unfamiliar to our ears. The accordion and violin intertwine in playful, fast-paced dances and delicate melodies. It is music full of passion that touches the heart.
