The festival opening was a resounding success

Radebeul in a festive mood – ‘L’amore’ is in the air

The air was filled with the scent of Federweißer, freshly baked ‘Schmuckbrot’ and pure joie de vivre as Mayor Bert Wendsche officially opened the 34th Autumn and Wine Festival, together with the 29th International Travelling Theatre Festival at the Weindorf on the church square.

The atmosphere was already splendid at the opening: in glorious sunshine, the Mayor gave the guests a most warm welcome. “Radebeul is alive – and how! This was followed by a blessing from the pastors of the Friedenskirche, poetic words of welcome from Bacchus – who, with vine leaves and a twinkle in his eye, put the audience in a festive mood – as well as very personal remarks from the 37th Saxon Wine Queen, Luise Puhlmann.

The musical programme was just as lively: the Radebeul Men’s Choir ‘Liederkranz 1844’ performed their programme with a rich sound and obvious enthusiasm, earning thunderous applause. To accompany this, freshly baked decorative bread was served, its tempting aroma blending with that of the first Federweißer. The guests tucked in heartily and enjoyed their first glass of wine to the full – just as befits a festival of love.

“L’amore” – that is this year’s promise: a festival full of warmth, enjoyment and fellowship. The visitors’ sunny, festive mood already makes it clear: Radebeul is ready for three days full of wine, travelling theatre and wonderful moments.
