Jenny Rasche will receive the €5,000 prize in the international category. The prize money is provided by the city of Radebeul.
The "Partnership with Eastern Europe" association receives the prize in the regional category without financial endowment.
The board of the Radebeul Courage Prize Association discussed the awarding of the prize with the Mayor of Radebeul, Bert Wendsche, and selected the winners.
Mr Romani Rose, Chairman of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma since 1982, was chosen as the laudator for Ms Jenny Rasche.
Mrs Natalija Bock, a native of Ukraine who has lived in Germany for 26 years and this year's winner of the Erich Kästner Prize donated by the Dresden Press Club, was chosen as the laudator for the "Partnership with Eastern Europe" association.
The Dresden-based Banda Internationale will provide the musical programme for the award ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m. in the Friedenskirche Radebeul-Altkötzschenbroda.
"The commitment to peace, democracy, humanity and enlightenment requires people who are unselfishly and courageously committed to this. Since the first Radebeul Courage Award was presented in 2004, the Courage Award Association and the city of Radebeul have been committed to making this work visible and inspiring others."
Bert Wendsche, Lord Mayor
"The Courage Prizes 2024 will go to people who prove that our humanity either presents itself in radical humanity or falls by the wayside as an empty phrase. I am very much looking forward to the award ceremony and to the personal encounters with Jenny Rasche, Romani Rose, Natalija Bock and the members of the Coswig association 'Partnership with Eastern Europe."
Frank Richter, Chairman of the Radebeul Courage Award Association
