Helpers wanted for New Year's Eve cleaning on the Radebeul dyke

Many citizens also celebrate the New Year along the "summer dyke" from Altkötzschenbroda to the Panzersteg. A recurring annoyance, however, is the large amount of rubbish that is left behind along the dyke.

For the past three years, the Radebeul dyke runner, Maximilian Speidel, has voluntarily taken on the task of cleaning the dyke on 1 January of the new year. However, developments in recent years have shown an increasing tendency towards contamination. "In the past, everything used to fit in the car boot and we were able to dispose of it without any problems. But this year, for the first time, it was no longer possible. The boot was full and we had to leave a whole shopping trolley full of firework batteries behind for the city cleaning service," says Maximilian Speidel.

For the coming New Year, Mr Speidel is therefore calling for a citizens' initiative. If you would like to support Mr Speidel with the rubbish collection campaign, please come to the end of the dyke in Altkötzschenbroda on 1 January 2025 at 10:00 am. This can be reached by following the road "An der Festwiese" from Altkötzschenbroda straight ahead towards the Elbe, past the beer garden of the Hotel "Goldener Anker" and the Elbe sports hall.
