Media in focus: Round table in Radebeul invites controversial debate about and with MDR

The Radebeul Adult Education Centre and the city of Radebeul invite you to an important discussion event on the future of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) on Monday, 2 February 2026 at 18:00 in the Radebeul Kultur-Bahnhof, Sidonienstraße 1.

Under the title "Radebeul - In dialogue with each other: The MDR in the field of tension: Between mission, criticism and cost pressure", the public media house in the heart of Saxony will be critically examined. The debate will take place against the backdrop of current demands for reform, increasing cost pressure and social criticism.

Representatives of MDR will meet critical external journalists and publicists on the podium. The invited experts will discuss the challenges facing MDR, such as safeguarding its journalistic mission despite cost-cutting pressures and dealing with declining acceptance and disinformation. The event is deliberately not intended to be an advertising platform, but to enable an honest and controversial debate about the media system.

The discussion round will be co-designed by the audience. All members of the public are invited to address their questions, criticism and suggestions directly to the MDR managers and the external experts. Your opinion is crucial to clarifying the value and future of public service broadcasting in Saxony.
