The Saxonz & BBoy Six

The Saxonz & BBoy Six
Second meeting
- International
“The Saxonz” are made up of Saxony’s most performance-oriented dancers. In early 2013, three regional groups joined forces to form a dance crew with the aim of achieving national and international success together. Within just twelve months, they had secured a leading position on the German breakdance scene and crowned themselves unofficial German champions with two consecutive victories at the ‘Battle of the Year’ in 2014 and 2015.
Despite their diverse personalities, all members share the same enthusiasm for dance, which is reflected in their rousing choreographies and entertaining stage shows. Through collaborations with renowned institutions such as the Festspielhaus Hellerau, the Semperoper Dresden and the State Chancellery of Dresden (commissioner of the ‘So geht sächsisch’ campaign), they have also made a name for themselves beyond the breakdance community. Furthermore, they play a key role in shaping Saxony’s urban dance scene through their own events, such as the ‘Double D-Town Battle’, the ‘XXL Training Session’ and the ‘Dance Off’.
Alongside their work as dancers, they are committed to nurturing young talent and regularly run courses and workshops for children and young people. The fusion of various dance styles enables ‘The Saxonz’ to move seamlessly between artistic dance theatre and competitive battles – always with impressive results. In recognition of their work, they received the Hanna Johannes Arras Foundation’s Art Prize in 2016 and were awarded the Art and Culture Prize of the State Capital of Dresden in 2023.
At the Autumn and Wine Festival, they will be performing with BBoy Stix, who contracted polio as a child and has since learnt to walk on his hands. At the age of 12, he began to develop his own style of dancing on crutches. He subsequently made a name for himself in the German breakdance and hip-hop scene and won several awards.
