Construction project: repair of Augustusweg culvert

12.06.2025

As part of the ongoing repair work on the Augustusweg culvert, it will be fully closed for around four weeks from 16 June 2025. The reason for this is the installation of the GRP (fibreglass-plastic) profile pipes, the reconnection of the road drainage pipe and the conversion of the flushing pipe from the elevated drinking water tank. The conditional local surface reconstruction of the road is also part of the measure. A diversion for local public transport will be set up for the duration of the road closure.

The work to date has included clearing the construction site with clearing work as well as the construction of a northern construction road and set-up areas on the south side for access to the lower-lying construction areas. After extensive clearing of debris in the culvert, the pipe base was installed and the existing geometry was calibrated and analysed to precisely determine the new pipe dimensions. For the renewal of the northern wing walls, a construction pit shoring was installed and the existing wing walls were dismantled. The new foundations have now been concreted and the first natural stone work has begun. All work is currently on schedule.

The installation of the GRP pipes will be followed by the installation of bat boxes, annular space insulation, the bed reinforcement in the neighbouring upper and lower stream bed and further natural stone work to rebuild the wing walls in the upper stream, the portal ring in the lower stream and the remaining natural stone cross-section of the culvert. Finally, railings will be added to the portals, the construction road will be dismantled and footpaths, landscaped areas and fencing will be restored. These final measures will be carried out with half-sided road closures.

The consortium (ARGE) Durchlassbauwerk Radebeul Augustusweg, a merger of the companies Heinrich Lauber GmbH & Co KG (Industriestraße 27 0T 640 Coswig) and Aarsleff Rohrsanierung GmbH (Radeburger Straße 172, 01109 Dresden), was commissioned to carry out the construction work.

The estimated construction costs for the share of the city of Radebeul amount to approx. 350,000 €.
