"Myth of Winnetou" - The Karl May Festival Radebeul celebrates 150 years of Winnetou

From 29 May to 1 June 2025 - always on the weekend after Ascension Day - Radebeul will be transformed into the Wild West. An amazing parallel universe will be created in the rustic natural idyll of the Lößnitzgrund, bringing the fictional world of Karl May's books to life for three days, seamlessly connecting it with reality and offering inspiration for new perspectives and friendships - in the spirit of the noble Apache chief.

There's another big anniversary to celebrate at the opening on Friday evening - the 20th Freiberg Country Night! Line dance shows and international country bands will get the dance floor shaking. As a special guest, we are looking forward to the internationally successful stars of the indigenous music scene - "Sihasin". Siblings Jeneda and Clayson Benally from the Navajo Nation (Dine) tribe offer an explosive mix of traditional Navajo sounds and elements of folk, rock, pop and punk.

At the Karl May Museum and in the Lößnitzgrund, you will meet other representatives of various Native American tribes from North America who will provide impressive insights into their culture and way of life.

An authentic Wild West feeling is created in the Western towns and camps, which have been built with great attention to detail and are also the stage for elaborate theatre shows. Thuggish but lovable scoundrels mingle with the audience, enjoy a brawl in the boxing ring or a dramatic duel in slow motion, regularly rob banks or hold up the antique "Santa Fé Express" steam train.

International country bands provide the real soundtrack at all the locations. Among others, Cash & Candy, Congo Cowboys, Landmann, Riley & Volz will be performing.

For the little cowboys and Indians, there will be plenty of exciting action and creative playgrounds (with gold panning, rope climbing, archery and pony rides). If you come dressed up for International Children's Day on Sunday (1 June 2025), you can look forward to a surprise!

Hundreds of riders and their magnificent horses will once again parade along Meißner Straße for the big star riders' parade on Sunday morning and Winnetou & Old Shatterhand will honour the longest star ride to Radebeul.

So clean your cowboy boots and off you go to the 32nd Karl May Festival in Radebeul!
