Carmen - Bolero
Two-part dance evening with music by Peter Andersohn based on »Carmen« by Georges Bizet and the »Bolero« by Maurice Ravel
It is Don José from whose perspective we experience the encounters with the fascinating Carmen - a Carmen who enchants, seduces and captivates. But Don José cannot bear the contradiction of being personally trapped by this Carmen, who is characterised above all by her desire for freedom. In order to escape the mortal danger that threatens him through Carmen's loss to another man, Don José decides to get ahead of her.
Like Bizet's »Carmen«, Ravel's »Bolero« is also world-famous. After the escalation of emotions in »Carmen«, this grandiose orchestral crescendo leads us to question the collective madness that fatally binds us as human beings just as much as love.
