Supermassive black holes - Discover the invisible

Event for young people and adults

Black holes are among the most bizarre celestial bodies in the universe. They are formed when particularly large stars collapse. Supermassive black holes, on the other hand, are found in the centres of galaxies. Some of them are millions or even billions of times the mass of our sun. Their size and location can be determined based on the movements of the stars in their vicinity. The Planetarium programme shows how science is gaining an ever better understanding of the phenomenon of their formation and how, with enormous efforts and the best observation instruments, it is now even possible to take pictures of these strange mass monsters.
