Military History Presentation Association Saxony e.V.
For over 25 years, the association has been bringing civilian and military life in the second half of the 19th century to life for visitors and is not only to be seen at historic locations in Saxony, but is also an integral part of the Karl May Festival.
The year is 1869 and the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad Company has been pushing ahead with the construction of a continuous railway line from St. Louis to San Francisco for two years. Having now arrived in New Mexico, their camps are filled with engineers, workers from all over the world, surveyors, but also soldiers of fortune and other profiteers who want to get rich without much effort.
There is also a small group of emigrants from Saxony and Prussia on the rocky road to future prosperity. Some of the older ones have experienced the turmoil of the German Revolution of 1848/49 and the American Civil War and are now hoping for a calmer life, while others on the trek dream of finding their fortune in the American West and returning to their homeland as made men or women...
Will they succeed? Can the railway line be built as planned?
