Transfer of ownership of "Villa Kolbe" to the city of Radebeul

07.10.2024

The purchase of the listed ensemble at Zinzendorfstrasse 16 ("Villa Kolbe") for one euro has now been notarised in implementation of the city council's decision to acquire the property. In the course of the subsequent realisation, the city is now the owner. The final transfer of ownership will still take some time due to the land register process.

Immediately upon transfer of ownership, the city contractually commissioned a private third party with the tasks of traffic safety as well as the structural safeguarding of the property. All measures are being carried out in close coordination with the city and the monument authorities.

The administration is also preparing to put the property up for sale in the near future.

Facts of the case:

The property at Zinzendorfstrasse 16 ("Villa Kolbe") is registered as a listed building and park in its entirety. It is one of the most elaborate and architecturally high-quality villa ensembles in the city. At the same time, the area is also of outstanding significance in terms of urban history, as it was built for the chemist Dr Carl Kolbe, the general director of the Heyden chemical factory.

After years of progressive decay, the Radebeul city council decided to purchase the property at its meeting on 22 May 2024 (resolution SR 39/24-19/24). The aim of the purchase decision is to secure this listed ensemble, which characterises the cityscape, and preserve it for posterity in the long term. To this end, private interested parties are to be sought in a timely manner by means of an invitation to tender.
