Lecture on Max Reger and Ernst von Schuch in the Stadtgalerie

As part of the exhibition "Taktstock Zeichenstift - Ernst Edler von Schuch und Robert Sterl", the Stadtgalerie Radebeul invites you to the lecture "Max Reger & Ernst von Schuch" with Dr Jürgen Schaarwächter, Max-Reger-Institut/Elsa-Reger-Stiftung, Karlsruhe, on Sunday, 30 June 2024, 4.00 pm.
The musicologist Dr Jürgen Schaarwächter has been a research associate at the Max Reger Institute in Karlsruhe since 1999. In addition to his work on Max Reger (from 2000 to 2010 also as editor of the Mitteilungen der Internationalen Max-Reger-Gesellschaft e.V.), Jürgen Schaarwächter was the Continental European representative of the Havergal Brian Society from 1998 to 2023, has been the German representative of the British Music Society since 2001, a member of the selection committee of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes since 2018 and a jury member of the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik e.V. since 2023.
The composer Max Reger (1873 - 1916) and the conductor Ernst von Schuch (1846 - 1914) were in close contact. Max Reger's "Eine Lustspiel-Ouvertüre" op.120 (1911), which was composed in 1911, was dedicated to Ernst von Schuch and "Eine romantische Suite" based on poems by J. von Eichendorff had its premiere on 11 October 1912 at the 1st Symphony Concert of the Royal Dresden Chapel under Ernst von Schuch.
