Register as a jobseeker online, apply for unemployment benefit electronically and arrange a counselling appointment online: From 1 January 2022, these eService offerings from the Federal Employment Agency will be supplemented by a further digital offering that enables an end-to-end online process. With electronic unemployment registration, customers will be able to register for unemployment insurance around the clock and from any location at the start of the new year. From 1 January 2022, electronic unemployment registration will be equivalent to registering for unemployment in person.
As with in-person unemployment registration, proof of identification is also required for online unemployment registration. Identification is carried out using an ID card with online ID function or other electronic proof of identification (electronic residence permit, eID card, ID card of an EU/EEA member state with online ID function).
As an alternative to online registration, you can still register for unemployment in person.
