Lutherkirche Church

  • Lutherkirche

The Luther Church at Kirchplatz 1 was built in the course of the rapid population increasein the last four months of the 19th century and the effort to separate from the mother church in Kaditz. The foundation stone was laid in 1891 and the work was carried out by the Eisold company from Serkowitz and Rudolf Baron from Dresden.

In 1892, the "Kirche zu Radebeul" was solemnly consecrated. The building combines medieval style elements with German Renaissance forms and offers space for about 1,000 people. The congregation grew rapidly from 5,500 to about 13,000 worshippers. The three bronze bells delivered in 1890 were melted down for armaments in 1917 and replaced by cast steel bells in 1920.

In 1934, alterations were made and the church was given its present name.
