Hamlet
Tragedy by William Shakespeare
Prince Hamlet's world is falling apart at the seams. His uncle Claudius has won the Danish crown through fratricide and taken his sister-in-law as his wife. As war threatens the kingdom, the ghost of the old king appears and demands revenge. Is it time for Hamlet to change things for the better through new violence, or will every attempt to buck the times lead to ruin? What decides Denmark's fate is not Hamlet's vigour, but the brutal actions and unsuccessful attacks of his opponents. At the end of the tragedy it says: »The rest is silence.« But Shakespeare's great theatre narrative has never fallen silent. It proves its great urgency at all times.
