Did you already know...?

Karl Friedrich May was born 183 years ago today in what is now Hohenstein-Ernstthal. In 1888, he moved to Radebeul, where he wrote all of his major works, moved several times and died in 1912. The Karl May tomb in the Radebeul-Ost cemetery commemorates the most widely read writer in the German language and spiritual father of Winnetou, Old Shatterhand and Kara Ben Nemsi.
If you would like to find out more about Karl May and other Radebeul personalities, it is worth taking a look at the "Stadtlexikon Radebeul", which is available from the Tourist Information Centre on Hauptstraße 12 for €49.00.
And by the way... The son of Radebeul (albeit not a native) also adorns a new 0-euro note. This is also available at the Tourist Information Centre and costs €2.50. There is even an anniversary edition of the note with gold embossing for €3.50 each.
