Route Wackerbarth

On the route around Wackerbarth Castle you can experience wine in all its facets. The adventure winery not only invites you to enjoy wine in its own inn and at cultural events in the park, but also informs you on display boards about the work behind the finished wine.

The Belvedere , with its romantic terraces in front of it, gives you a sense of the courtly, baroque lifestyle once cultivated here by Count von Wackerbarth.

The ascent to Jacobstein leads through the middle of the vineyards and offers a wide view over the Elbe valley. The "Most Beautiful Wine View 2012" offers a magnificent view over Wackerbarth Castle, the baroque gardens and the Belvedere, the highlight of the ensemble.

The observatory also picks up on the theme of wine and vividly describes the special significance of the sun for viticulture. Due to the typical steep slopes, the sun is at a suitable angle to enable the cultivation of wine even in more northerly regions. Especially on beautiful autumn days, the grapes can thus ripen optimally.

During a short detour to the quarry at Himmelsbusch, you can admire nature in all its diversity. Many endangered and almost extinct plant species can be found here and unfold their full beauty especially in the flowering season.

Tip: The Saxon state winery Schloss Wackerbarth offers daily guided tours for guests, which provide an insight into the wine and sparkling wine production. During a guided tour afterwards, you can enjoy the variety of aromas and the character of the wines with all your senses.
